51 Years Strong: East Akron Labor Day Parade

ONE COMMUNITY. ONE PURPOSE. ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

The sun was shining on East Akron as The 51st Annual East Akron Labor Day Parade brought a day of joy and purpose. It was a reminder that there are endless possibilities, when it comes to preserving the culture and highlighting the people that continue to shine a light on the East side of Akron. We are deeply appreciative to the Parade Chair Reverend Dr. Charles Myricks and the Grand Marshal Congresswoman Emilia Strong Sykes for their leadership and commitment to the success of the parade. In addition to our staff, the volunteers, and everyone involved in making the parade a great success. Thank you to the parade participants and all that you do for The City of Akron. We would like to thank our sponsors the City of Akron, Arlington Church of God, NeighborWorks, and Tim Dagg’s Asphalt and Sealcoating on making our mission in strengthening communities and making a positive impact in our community possible!

A Positive Surge In Turnout Compared To 2025

““As an East Akron native, I take so much pride in our Labor Day Parade. Beyond the SLAB cars, the candy tossed, and the music in the streets, it’s a love letter to our neighborhood. From Boyer’s Body Shop to Lovers Lane and beyond, these streets hold our memories, our culture, and pieces of who we are. East Akron is home, and there’s a beauty in seeing our people come together to celebrate it.””
